Michelle was a deeply respected professional and a genuinely caring individual who touched the lives of many colleagues and friends throughout her career. I have known Michelle for over 30 years working with her at Goldman Sachs and at Northwell Health.
Michelle was affectionately known as “Mama Hama.” She had a special way of caring for the people she worked with often going out of her way to bring snacks and coffee to the team without ever expecting anything in return. Michelle was just a caring individual who helped bring people together, coordinating celebrations, cards, and gifts so that no colleague ever felt overlooked or unappreciated.
Michelle was not only an exceptional professional but also one of the kindest individuals one could have the honor of knowing. We spoke several times each week, sharing conversations about work, family, and life. She spoke often about her extended family particularly her great-nephew, great-niece, and her nephew who all live in Florida.
It is especially tragic that Michelle had only recently retired, less than a month ago, and was not given the opportunity to fully enjoy the next chapter of her life. Her passing is a great loss to all who had the pleasure of knowing her,.
Michelle will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the genuine care she showed to everyone around her.
Love,
Mark and Karen Thomas
